Retired flagship mid tier
Retired on . No longer served on the endpoint we price — the figures below are kept for historical reference only. Full retirement status & replacements →
Availability: Perplexity ended support for Sonar Chat Completions on 2026-09-27 and moved it to its Agent API. Its pricing page no longer lists a Sonar Pro rate (read 2026-10-05); requests that still use the old model name are being rerouted to the Agent API, which bills differently. OpenRouter still lists Sonar Pro at $3/$15 per 1M tokens, but that is a reseller listing — the price above is what the model last cost from Perplexity, not a rate Perplexity sells today.

Overview

Perplexity's web-grounded model for in-depth, multi-step queries — retrieves and synthesizes multiple web searches with ~2x the citations of standard Sonar. $3/$15 per 1M tokens plus search fees. Perplexity ended support for it on 2026-09-27; the price shown is what it last cost, not a rate you can buy today.
